Ethics Webinar coming up June 29th

  • 02/06/2022

On Wednesday 29th of June from 8-10pm, we invite you to join us and Jacob Sadavoy and Joy Johnson to talk about:

Navigating parents’ wishes, client’s values, practitioner’s bias and assessment inflexibility

The science of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is proudly known as an evidence-based practice (EBP). For consumers this means that ABA practitioners are responsible for providing the most effective care that is available, with the aim of improving client outcomes based on the best available evidence. Slocum and colleagues (2014) define EBP of ABA as “a decision-making process that integrates (a) the best available evidence with (b) clinical expertise and (c) client values and context” (p. 44). As a field, we monitor (a) and our coursework and supervision address (b). This presentation will delve into (c) where we will discuss the importance of sourcing client values and the importance of social validity from all stakeholders, assent, and working through divergent program desires.

Learning Objectives

1) Participants will gain five strategies to learn the values of clients

2) Participants will learn tools that will aid them when conflicts exist between stakeholder values

3) Participants will gain methods to assess the social validity of various stakeholders to inform programming

2 Ethics CEUs are available.

Jacob and Joy will tailor the webinar to our needs. In order to do that, they need participants to fill out the following survey. It takes 5 minutes.

The webinar is free for members. The price is CHF 20.- for non-members. The CEUs cost CHF 10.-
